Meet the team

CMN Welding and Hydraulics is veteran-owned and run by two business partners from right here in central Minnesota. When you call the shop, these are the people you’ll work with.

Hydraulics sales and estimates

When a project comes into the shop, I oversee and inspect it, work closely with my business partner Matt, and finalize how we move forward. I also handle most of the sales and estimates for our hydraulics department.

More about Randy

Background

I graduated from Osakis High School, where I focused mostly on shop classes. I served in the U.S. Army for 6 years, including a deployment to Iraq from 2011 to 2012. While in the military, I worked as a commercial overhead door installation technician. After my military career, I attended Alexandria Technical and Community College for Health and Fitness Trainer, as well as Metallurgy and Welding. I then worked at a small local shop in Alexandria, where I built my extensive knowledge of hydraulics repair.

What I specialize in

I have a broad background in manual machining, including Bridgeport knee mills and LeBlond engine lathes. Tight tolerances and detailed matches are my strong suit, which lets me produce high-quality parts in-house for our hydraulics department and the rest of the company.

Off the clock

I’m married with 3 wonderful kids, and my wife and I also foster 2 vulnerable adults. My longtime hobbies are hunting (duck, deer and pheasant), fishing, riding my motorcycle, and spending good old quality time with my family.

When you call CMN for a quote, a price check, or work to be done, you talk directly with me. I work closely with Randy to make it happen, and I run most of the sales, bidding and finalizing so we meet or exceed your expectations.

More about Matt

Background

I graduated from Melrose Area High School in 2012, where I took mostly shop and welding classes. Before graduating, I enlisted in the Army at 17 years old in 2011 and went directly into the United States Army, where I’m still serving with 15 years of service. I’m also a Melrose archery coach, which I wholeheartedly love.

Experience

While serving, I’ve also gained experience in leadership roles as a Corrections Enforcement Officer for the Minnesota Department of Corrections, Assistant Manager at PAMS Auto, and full-time Staff Operations Training Specialist for the Army Reserve. My background in custom G-code work (CNC plasma, 3D printing and CNC table routers) lets us produce parts in-house at CMN.

How I work

I take pride in everything I do, and I strive to match each customer’s expectations, picture and dream. I’ve partnered in and run CMN Welding since August 2023.

Off the clock

I’m married with 4 kids and 4 foster kids, 8 in total, and these wonderful children are my world. My hobbies include hunting (deer, duck and pheasant), fishing, spending time with family, especially my kids, and socializing at local events around mid-Minnesota.
